These are my kids. They are not weirdos.
It’s me. I’m the weirdo. See the way I dress them? In mismatched colors and outrageous patterns. That’s why Daughter #1 looks so sad. And Daughter #2? Poor Daughter #2 won’t even show her face to the camera. She’s far too embarrassed.
Okay, that sounded strange. I think I just referred to my children as pee and poop. (#1 and #2) They are Reese and Sloane, not pee and poop.
Anyway…
Everything in my fantastically shitty wardrobe is black. I’ll be the weirdo at your garden party in the dead of August dressed in black from head to toe.
I’m hoping my kids will be more “open” to an alternate wardrobe lifestyle than the route I chose.
Gosh I hope they don’t become nudists. Or dress like Mariah Carey. Or a lumberjack. Or a robot…
And I totally just realized it’s not Wednesday. It’s Thursday. Fantastic, I missed an entire day.

I’m pretty sure this is my favourite post ever.
I’d say you should submit this to Cookie mag, but it just shuttered *sigh*.
They rock, as do you. <—-not a reference to #2

Thanks, I miss Cookie too! I don’t read any parenting mags anymore. I just wing it, as you can see from the above photo…
A) I love their outfits……hate the little matchy matchy shit some people put their kids in. Ick!
B) I was afraid my daughter would grow up and be a cheerleader, follow in my footsteps, dancing around half dressed in front of a whole gymnasium. Oh hell no, she’s on the swim team instead. OMG!!!!!!

Yes I’m so over matching stuff, as you can see.
Swimming is great, way better than cheerleading. Unless you’re an awesome cheerleader who has superpowers and can turn anybody into a zombie at the rustle of your pom-poms.
Now that would be cool.
I love what they are wearing!

I tried to replicate this look today but for some reason I looked strange…
I think they look absolutely darling, I would wear any of those. Not really but I would dress my daughter that way. We refer to our kids as Large, Medium and Small fry. So I totally did not think you were referring to your kids as pee and poop
I guess everyone has nicknames for their kids, right?
My parents called me Poopy Pants.
Do you know how much I love you…You Fucking Weirdo!

Ah thank you. It takes one to know one.
Also just so you know, the picture of marbles on my last post was inspired by your photographs. It may suck, but I hope you like it anyway.

Oh great! I love to see photos on blogs. Makes things a tad more interesting…
And your kids are so fashionable…they are way beyond the mainstream!

CUTE kids. So glad I don’t have girls we’d be broke! Don’t worry about missing a day, I lost my entire 20s…

I guess boys are easier aren’t they? Wrap them in bacon and they’re good to go!
Gosh I wish I had missed most of my twenties…
Hi Amanda Darling, I ADORE the outfits and like you I funkify my tots on a daily basis. Serious Grace not so big on it but Ella is easily molded into whatever big old doll I want her to be. It is fun. First time around I was very traditional- gymboree matchy match and my son’s teenage rebellion was well…scary. Let’s just say sharpie eyebrows, and false eyelashes were part of his wardrobe. God ,I am glad he is over that. So dress them fun-it pays off I am certain
Black is always a go to for me. LOVE black.
Love to you today! Happy almost weekend!

My kids definitely like what they like. Reese has started dressing herself now, and at almost four she loves her dresses.
Your son sounds AMAZING!
He is
and celebrated 2 years of sobriety yesterday. Proudest parenting moment to date:) Happy Weekend Sweets.

Wow. Congrats to him AND you!
Really like the zebra boots with stockings, along with the facial positioning. Really good job on this one, especially the different facings. Nice.

Thanks John, I was lucky to snap this one, as it was raining.
And I’ll see if I can find the zebra boots in your size…
Looks like good practice for coming to terms with when they have to get dressed in the dark …….. the disadvantage is that it’s going to be difficult to lose them ……. *dons sunglasses and swallows an aspirin*

Oh my. I’m not ready for that.
Ahhh, they’re adorable. As a die-hard wearer of black myself, I am amazed at the patterns my daughter creates with her clothes. It’s like she’s being rebellious already by throwing together so much color in one outfit. What is she trying to do to me?

That was a great post. See poop… she won’t even look at the camera.

Yes, poop is like that.
Oh my goodness, I think they are absolutely adorable! I love dressing my daughter in eclectic, semi-matched garb! She is too young to be embarrassed right now though.

Not only did you lose Wednesday, for a moment you actually had me believing it was STILL Wednesday TODAY. I’m blaming the early hour for my ridiculous conception of time…

Your girls are completely adorable. I bet you are too, even in your head to toe blackness. Is that politically incorrect? Sorry.
Of course you dress in black. You live in San Francisco. I still have mostly black in my wardrobe and I haven’t lived there for over 10 years. Besides, black is slimming. At least that’s what I tell myself.

Builds character

However, LOVE the names. That should make up for the outfits. I think, anyway.

bet I can beat you at the garden party “in my fantastically shitty” black wardrobe. yeah, that’s right. I’ll be the weirdo at your garden party.
On a slightly less horrific note. Gorgeous girls. I can really hear you in this post too… letting the black go is hard… maybe by august you’ll be draped in.. magenta?

And I wanted to apologize for bailing on you and the paragraph that I told you I would do. Although I quite enjoyed the post you put together with the other ones!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with dressing like Morticia Adams at a garden party and the girls are delightfully attired as well. If I could find grown up clothes like that I would be on my way.

Love the mishmash. I dressed my kids like this too, more to make a statement than anything. Yes, I shamelessly used my children to further my needs.

They look so sweet! I love the outfit – I too am the one in black on the beach. I have begun to venture into gray but not very far. Mostly in shoes.
Can you order me a pair too while you’re looking for John?
I. Need. Those. Boots.
Also, I need a calendar to figure out what day it is now. Between KeepingYouAwake and Mrsblogalot I’m starting to think it’s November.

they look great – don’t worry about it. If it’s not clothes it will be something else that they will have to seek therapy for in later life:).
I have two friends, one of them grew up with a pink fetsih which her parents indulged, she’s now wearing nothing but black, and more black. The other girl dressed up in real gender neutral clothes, and she is now quietly admitting that if she could, she’d like to be a princess with pink dresses and live in a castle somewhere:).
